This professional development course aims to provide frontline staff of settlement and integration agencies the knowledge and practical skills to better serve and assist SOGIE (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression) newcomers in Alberta.

This professional development course in French offers Francophone frontline staff of settlement and integration agencies the knowledge and practical skills required to better serve Francophone children and youth newcomers with mental health needs.

This professional development course aims to build frontline staff capacity to better server newcomers to the province who experience marginalization and discrimination. It acknowledges that age, race and ethnicity, religion, physical/mental ability, sexual identity and orientation, and/or one’s gender/gender expression can influence the settlement of newcomers. The course imparts knowledge and skills that enable frontline staff to serve in ways that better fit newcomers’ intersecting identities.
